Thoughts:

1: Venezuela is a founding member of OPEC.
2: Output is not huge, but oil reserves are massive.
3: Physical security is likely to play a vital role in the success of revitalizing Venezuelan oil, both on land and at sea.
4: Investors have been preparing for this well in advance. They are declining to take a position on morality considerations. This will probably be a common theme as the situation develops.

Thoughts:

1: It is never a good sign for the legitimacy of your government when you oppress protesters.
2: If kill or arrest your protesters... ...you might be a tyrant.

Other Coverage:

Thoughts:

1: There is a HUGE financial incentive to get on the vaccine schedule for children: nearly-mandatory shots for every kid in America before being allowed into school.
2: Try searching Google yourself for dissenting voices - largely scrubbed. Where available, vaccine opposition is almost always presented with a rebuttal - look at the Politico interview linked above.
3: Still fresh in the memory of many Americans: sweeping Covid vaccine injury data under the rug, Epstein "killed himself", and many other forced narratives that are suspicious or proven false.
4: Why the fear of open, honest dialogue with referenced source data? "Everyone knows" arguments are not good long-term for a healthy discussion.

---END RUBIO---
---START PRESS Q&A---
Q: Who is in power now? A: (Trump) Will be run by a group. Will run it properly. Will take care of people of Venezuela, even those forced out.
Q: Troops on the ground? A: (Trump) Not afraid of boots on the ground. Will run properly. We are there now, and we will be again if we have to.
Q: Will US person run the country? A: (Trump) Will designate someone.
Q: Who will run the country? A: (Trump) Many of the people standing behind me. Won't take a chance on a bad person taking over. A group of people, including people in the military. Make a lot of money, and reimburse people, including those force out of Venezuela.
Q: Will you work with VP of Venezuela? A: (Trump) She was just sworn in, but was picked by Maduro, she wants to work with US, so we will work with her.
Q: Congress notified in advance? A: (Rubio) Notified immediately AFTER the mission. Not mission that congress could be briefed on as timing was up in the air and would endanger the mission. Was law enforcement mission. (Trump) Congress leaks, and we don't want leakers.
Q: What was Maduro doing when US entered, and could Maduro have been killed? A: (Trump) It could have happened. Maduro was at the door trying to get to safe place when troops entered. Would have blown the door if needed.
Q: Where will Maduro be held? A: (Trump) New York.
Q: Is there a plan? A: (Trump) Other presidents didn't have plans.
Q: How long will US run Venezuela. A: (Trump) Would like to be quick, but rebuilding takes time. Infrastructure is old, rotting, and will be replaced.
Q: How China/Russia/Iran relationships be affected? A: (Trump) We will sell oil to them, probably a lot more now.
Q: What is message to people of Venezuela? A: (Trump) Peace, justice, riches, justice, great country. If Trump lost last election, US would have been Venezuela on steroids.
Q: Are Hegseth/Rubio going to run Venezuela? A: (Trump) It is a team that will run. Venezuela VP Delcy Rodriguez sworn in now and says will do whatever US needs, but cartels are still running the country. US not just leaving. Investing millions.
Q: Americans in the country? A: (Trump) They are protected.
Q: Will bad elements remain in place? A: (Trump) We know who they are and they better behave.
Q: How is this America First? A: (Trump) Stability and energy is important to US.
Q: What about Cuba? A: (Trump) Cuba is failing, US wants to help its people, including those forced out. (Rubio) Cuba is a disaster, run by incompetent, senile men. Economy in collapse. Cuba infiltrated and heavility influenced Venezuela.
Q: Where is opposition leader Maria Corina Machado? A: (Trump) Not in contact with her, but she doesn't have the support or respect of the country.
(Trump) US must be surrounded by safe, secure countries.
Q: What did you speak about with Maduro. A: (Trump) You must surrender.
Q: Recently pardoned Honduras president for drug trafficking. A: He was treated like Biden treated Trump - persecuted unfairly. Trump studied situation, determined persecution, and gave pardon.
Q: Will US Military have presence in Venezuela? A: (Trump) As necessary to protect US people rebuilding oil.
Q: Call with Putin, was Maduro discussed? Mad at Putin? A: (Trump) Maduro not discussed. Not happy with Putin. Too many people getting killed. Settled 8 1/4 wars. Though Russia/Ukraine resolution would be easy - has not been. It is Biden's war, but wants to stop the (loss of) life. 30,000 killed this past month. Ukraine selling munitions at 5% interest, but not of interest - just want to stop the 25-30K deaths each month, plus others being killed in various cities. The war should have never happened, and would not have happened had Trump been president.
---END PRESS Q&A---

Other Coverage:

Thoughts:

1: Remember to slow down and consider carefully before deciding. There will be a lot of noise and narratives being crafted. Be wise.
2: This appears to have been done as a DOJ initiative rather than a military one - possibly to try to avoid congressional oversight? An attack on a foreign country to capture someone wanted domestically. Was there congressional oversight?
3: The people of Venezuela ARE in crisis; but if we are to help, with respect for our own freedom, we MUST proceed lawfully. The US Constitution is NOT an impediment to be circumvented.
4: Internally conflicted on this one at the moment - stopping to listen, observe, think, and sort it out.
5: Comments from C-SPAN audience:
    - praising US overthrowing communism
    - criticizing Trump working without congress
    - suspicion of oil motive
    - suspicion of gold motive
    - supporting drug war reasoning
6: Would we be in favor of another government invading with heavy artillery and air power to arrest Joe Biden while he was in office? Many considered him illegitimate and oppressive.
7: Pondering: What do the US Constitution and duly enacted laws say about the US running another country, especially in the absence of a treaty of some kind?
8: Is Maduro accused of crimes? Yes. There is a legal process for bringing those accused of crimes back to the US - it is called extradition. Are there other legal processes allowed here? There is a LOT of "shut up, he's been charged with crimes", but not a lot of showing the legal foundation for the method used to get Maduro to the US - show this, please!

Thoughts:

1: The Epstein Story Matters: We need to know that our government will not be / is not weaponized against us. People predicted that Epstein would be eliminated in prison because of his blackmail-worthy knowledge about powerful people. Many believe he was. Also consider the treatment of Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.
2: The Epstein Story Matters: We need to know that, when our government tells us anything, what they tell us is the truth. They work for us. We do NOT need them to, nor should they, "protect us" from the truth. They OWE us the truth. This whole situation is covered with misdirection, false statements, edited video, and other deceptions; and it is NOT acceptable.
3: The Epstein Story Matters: Epstein's victims have a valid, legal claim.
4: To those who are irritated that this is still being raised: While accountability in this matter should not be the primary focus of our government, if we permit this to slide now or give it a pass now, we can expect more of the same later. More of the same later is not acceptable, so there needs to be accountability now.

Thoughts:

1: These people, and the government officials who enable it, appear to be stealing from us.
2: Why It Matters: It appears that our dollars, taken through taxes or inflated away by printing money, and then apparently squandered into frauds, are being used for and causing us to fund what we are morally opposed to.
3: Everyone now knows, it must be investigated, and those involved in stealing must be stopped.
4: Share this far and wide; and demand action by your representatives and officials.

Thoughts:

1: On Congressional Bill H.R. 131: This article by Rachel Frazin appears to be biased towards the latest initiative to create drama between Representative Lauren Boebert and President Donald Trump. We would do well and think more clearly if we stay out of the drama on either side and stick to our principles.
2: On Congressional Bill H.R. 504: Read both the veto and the article (bottom half) to hear perspectives from both sides.

1: Operating on the level of a 16-year-old: true or not? Hard to say. And if true, what weight should it have? A 16-year-old knows better than to set pipe bombs.
2: For the moment, at least, it has not relieved him of incarceration as he is perceived to be a danger.

Thoughts:

1: Socialism must be decried wherever it is promoted. The methods through which Socialism has become popular again need to be investigated and dismantled. This is a self-inflicted cancer to our society.
2: Pondering: If the Quran advocates lying to non-Muslims, what does this mean as the backing to Mamdani's oath? Are deceptive books or documents legally acceptable to provide the backing for one's word? Would someone be legally permitted to take an oath with their fingers crossed, or while shaking their head "no"?
